Online supermarket Picnic will now also accept PostNL return packages. Customers can give the packages to Picnic's delivery person when their groceries are home-delivered. This free service means they no longer have to drive or bike to a PostNL point, saving time and reducing CO2 emissions. With PostNL as a new partner, the service now covers more than eighty percent of the market.
The service was tested in six cities in recent weeks: Arnhem, Nieuwegein, Heerlen, Groningen, Wateringen, Den Bosch and Hilversum. After this successful trial, the collaboration with PostNL has now been rolled out to the entire country. Customers no longer need to leave their homes to return online orders, as long as the package has a correct return label. The delivery driver delivers the packages to a local hub, from where PostNL takes care of further handling.
Picnic is responding to the growing demand for convenience among customers, who increasingly choose to combine their returns with their weekly groceries. The online supermarket already offered the option of returning DHL parcels, a service that accounted for hundreds of thousands of returns last year.
The collaboration between Picnic and PostNL stems in part from their joint sponsorship of the Team Picnic PostNL cycling team. Both companies expect the combined service to deliver further logistical efficiency for customers and delivery drivers alike.
