NPM participation Bergman Clinics and health insurer Zilveren Kruis have extended their partnership through 2027. With the new multi-year contract, both parties continue to build on the agreements that have been in place since 2020 regarding the delivery of plannable specialist medical care.
A key component of the new agreements is the continued focus on hip and knee replacements as day treatments. By treating eligible patients and allowing them to return home on the same day, they can recover more quickly in their own environment. Meanwhile, this approach also contributes to more efficient use of healthcare capacity and reduced waiting times.
In addition, agreements have been made regarding increased transparency and assessment of the effectiveness of care. Bergman Clinics will continue to share quality data annually with policyholders, referring physicians, and chain partners. The collaboration with the independent research agency i2i to perform external assessments of appropriate and effective care will also continue.
The extension aligns with national agreements on healthcare transformation, which prioritize regional collaboration and effective capacity allocation. According to both parties, this should contribute to accessible, affordable, and appropriate care in the right place.
“We see it as our mission to contribute to the broad accessibility of Dutch healthcare by helping patients swiftly and effectively, at an impactful scale. Measurable, high-quality, and appropriate care are our starting point,” said Christiaan Boer, Director of Markets & Contracting at Bergman Clinics. “Expanding our partnership with Zilveren Kruis demonstrates that, as leading players in the healthcare system, we are taking responsibility for both today's healthcare and tomorrow's transition.”
