The partnership should result in a more efficient use of available capacity and shorter wait times.
The pilot focuses on patients with osteoarthritis who require treatment. Orthopedists from both organizations will jointly assess, in consultation with the patient, which healthcare provider best suits their personal situation. Factors such as wait time, the complexity of the procedure, and personal preference will play a role.
“With this collaboration, we are taking an important step towards future-proof orthopedic care in the region,” said Niels Steenbergen, Care Manager at IJsselland Hospital. “Together, we can help patients faster and more effectively.” Marnix Niggebrugge, Medical Director of Movement at Bergman Clinics, emphasizes that collaboration between professionals will also be strengthened: “Our doctors will be learning from each other, improving healthcare in the region together.”
In addition to dividing care responsibilities, Bergman Clinics and IJsselland Hospital are also collaborating in the training of OR assistants for the operating rooms of both institutions.
