Mentaal Beter expands e-health options for mental health clients | NPM Capital

Mentaal Beter is the first mental health organisation in the Netherlands to introduce an online client platform offering more than 100 different e-health modules. The innovative Koppeltaal tool has been used to link these modules provided by the large e-health suppliers NewHealth Collective, Therapieland and Minddistrict.

A number of IT platforms use their own languages. This makes it almost impossible for mental health organisations to offer the solutions of multiple suppliers simultaneously. The same applies to EPD (electronic patient files) and ROM (Routine Outcome Monitoring; a method of monitoring treatment progress). This means separate links are always needed, which requires large investments and efforts on the part of mental health organisations. The use of Koppeltaal means important information flows can now be integrated into the healthcare provider’s working environment, making it possible to gain a complete picture of the treatment process at a glance. This is particularly important for clients because it means treatments can be aligned even more effectively to personal needs.

Different modules for different conditions
The initial responses from Mentaal Beter clients and care providers have been positive. The new and extensive range provides assistance to clients who have different mental health conditions. There are, for example, modules for the most common treatments of ADHD, autism, depression, anxiety disorders and trauma. Clients dealing with bereavement issues, medically unexplainable somatic symptoms or other mental health issues can now also gain support through the different e-health modules on offer at Mentaal Beter.

Growing role for e-health
Scientific research has demonstrated that using e-health modules in mental health care yields good results. Alternating personal contact with using e-health modules independently enhances the self-sufficiency of clients with mental health conditions. E-health and online applications such as Virtual Reality and Serious Games are expected to play an even greater role in mental health care in the near future.
