Vanderlande Industries doubles investments | NPM Capital

An article in leading Dutch financial daily het Financieele Dagblad reports that NPM portfolio company Vanderlande Industries recently announced it will be doubling its investments. The company supplies logistics systems (baggage handling, sorting and distribution systems) to customers worldwide. Vanderlande says it plans to invest in new plants in Germany and the United States. The investments are needed with a view to being able to fulfil the growing number of orders.

Vanderlande Industries is currently experiencing a period of extremely strong growth. The company based in the Dutch Province of Brabant had a record order intake last year worth more than €1.4 billion. The main orders are for integrated solutions for baggage handling, parcel and postal and warehouse automation.

Vanderlande CEO Goof Hamers says the company will invest a total of € 30 million per year, which is a record amount that will be sustained for three years. In addition to expanding and opening plants in Germany and the United States, it will also invest heavily in expanding its workforce. The company is planning to increase the number of employees by 16% (approximately 700 employees). Additional personnel will be taken on in primarily Germany, India, Spain, Russia, the United States and China.

Vanderlande Industries will furthermore allocate a large proportion of its revenue to research & development. This budget will be used for the 250 employee strong research departments in the Netherlands, India and China and for engaging start-ups for research activities.
