Ultimaker S5 3D printer wins prestigious international iF Design Award 2019 | NPM Capital

Ultimaker has been awarded the prestigious iF Design Award for the user interface of the Ultimaker S5 3D printer. Together with design agency GRO Design, Ultimaker received the prize in the product category at the ceremony in Munich, Germany, on 15 March 2019. Ultimaker was one of over 6,400 entries from 50 countries. All winners will be featured in this year’s iF World Design Guide.

For over 65 years, the iF Design Award has been given to companies as a seal of quality, paying tribute to the world’s most exceptional designs. Products are entered within seven disciplines: Product, Packaging, Communication, Interior architecture, Professional concept, Service design/User experience and Architecture. From there, a panel of 67 judges from around the world – all experts in design in their own right – embark upon a mission to find the best designs. Judge Damian Mackiewicz of Harman International Industries, US, says: “Having this opportunity as a designer to have your product design being judged by so many talents from all around the world, from all continents, is very valuable.”

Ultimaker S5
The Ultimaker S5 was the first Ultimaker 3D printer to be operated with a touch display. The printer’s 4.7-inch color touch screen supports 11 languages and lets users easily check print progress, change printer configuration, or perform maintenance tasks with on-screen guidance. An intuitive interface eliminates the need for extensive operator training, and minimizes downtime through fast configuration changes.
