Transmetrics software optimises NileDutch’s flows of empty containers | NPM Capital

New software developed by Bulgarian start-up Transmetrics enables NPM portfolio company NileDutch to more efficiently manage the flow of empty containers. The company is the first to use a product called AssetMetrics, a program based on artificial intelligence (AI) and smart algorithms which enables what is known as ‘predictive logistics solutions’.

According to NileDutch, the smart repositioning of empty containers is one of the areas where predictive analysis and artificial intelligence could make significant improvements.

Nile Dutch Global Logistics Director Carlo Zaalberg: ‘We had been looking for a partner who could help us streamline our empty container flows for a long time. There are different IT solutions on the market, but we chose Transmetrics over other providers because they proved their technical expertise and also demonstrated a deep knowledge of the logistics industry and container shipping in particular, which is very difficult to find.’

Uninterrupted data exchange

AssetMetrics uses historic data and improves and enriches these datasets, allowing the intelligent algorithm to generate accurate predictions. The system is connected to NileDutch’s TMS (Transport Management System) so as to ensure the uninterrupted exchange of data. The technology makes it possible to predict future demand for container space up to 50% more accurately than in the past.
