Probo opens production facility in Germany

Print producer Probo is opening a new 10,000 square metre production facility in Bad Hersfeld, Germany, in July. From this facility, the company will serve resellers in Germany and Austria with the same speed, quality and service that customers in the Netherlands and Belgium have come to expect. With this expansion, Probo is combining its Frisian roots with German decisiveness — and taking an important step in the further roll-out of its European growth strategy.

The new printing facility fits seamlessly into Probo's model: a reseller platform that allows printing professionals to produce on demand without having to invest in machines or capacity themselves. “Your customer doesn't see us, but we are there to help you,” said Marco den Reijer, Head of Sales Germany. “We don't think of resellers as customers, but as colleagues.”

With a market volume of 35 billion euros, Germany is the largest printing market in Europe. Digital printing in particular is growing rapidly in applications such as packaging, interior decoration and large format. These are precisely the segments in which Probo operates. Local production in Germany means shorter delivery times, lower CO₂ emissions and more control for resellers over their logistics and services.

CEO Leon van der Meer: “Where others opt for low-wage countries, we consciously choose to invest in local production. In doing so, we strengthen our position as the hidden force behind the print professional — and help our customers to better distinguish themselves in a competitive market.” The new location in Bad Hersfeld will be phased into use over the coming months. In this way, Probo is continuing to build a scalable, European production platform for print professionals, step by step.
