Quality assurance firm Kiwa has joined seven other hydrogen pioneers in the HyDelta research programme. The programme aims to improve and accelerate the development of the hydrogen economy, taking an integrated approach that includes solutions for the production, storage, transport, distribution and consumption of hydrogen.
The HyDelta collaboration signed their declaration of intent during the Wind Meets Gas symposium, which was held on 17 and 18 October 2019 in Groningen. Kiwa’s fellow participants in the programme include the University of Groningen, the Province of Groningen, TKI Nieuw Gas, Gasunie, TNO, ERIG, Hanze University of Applied Sciences in Groningen and the New Energy Coalition.
HyDelta’s core focus is scientific research with direct applications. The participants intend to explore the full range of hydrogen applications — from transport and security to public acceptance, economic barriers and scaling up hydrogen use to a regional, national and even international level — with the aim of removing obstacles that can hinder large-scale applications of hydrogen.
