NPM portfolio company Kiwa is the first certification company that is allowed to carry out the NEN 7510 quality norm under accreditation. This norm creates a framework for information security in healthcare and sets out how information such as personal details, patient information and performance indicators are made secure in healthcare institutions.
The NEN 7510 norm (derived from the international ISO 27001 norm) is tailored to information security in the healthcare sector. The norm can be used for every healthcare institution and supplier in the healthcare sector. It sets out the measures that can be taken to ensure that confidential information is handled effectively. The topics covered in the norm include safeguarding the accessibility, integrity and confidentiality of all the information needed to provide patients with responsible care. According to the norm, security measures must be set up in such a way that they are auditable.
Accreditation instils confidence
Accreditation means the Dutch Accreditation Council (RvA) has assessed Kiwa to ensure it correctly executes the certification process for NEN 7510. This gives healthcare providers confidence in two ways: Kiwa tests as an independent third party whether NEN 7510 is being applied correctly within the organisation and the Accreditation Council tests the correct execution of the certification process by Kiwa.
