Conclusion: AI still only partially integrated into business processes

Although more than half of Dutch organizations consider themselves early adopters of artificial intelligence, only 15 percent have fully incorporated AI into their own processes, according to research by IT service provider Conclusion. The NPM participation surveyed over five hundred professionals with AI responsibilities at medium-sized and large companies.

90 percent of organizations consider AI important for their future strategy. However, only a limited number actually manage to integrate applications. Commonly used applications are data analysis (48 percent), process automation (35 percent), and product development (34 percent). Forty percent expect that companies without AI will become irrelevant within five years.

According to Tomas van den Nieuwendijk, director of Conclusion AI 360, the challenge lies not in initiating projects, but in scaling them. “Many organizations have started AI experiments and like to see themselves as early adopters, but are still struggling with the transition to full organization-wide integration.” According to him, this requires long-term thinking, with attention to knowledge, culture, and change management.

Knowledge and training are considered to be the major bottlenecks. A third of companies lack sufficient expertise, particularly in the area of AI literacy among employees. Although European AI legislation requires organizations to invest in this area, 44 percent have not yet taken concrete steps. Only 13 percent have established a training program and are fully aware of the legal requirements.
