Sofia Correia de Barros has been appointed CEO of LeYa, part of NPM portfolio company Infinitas Learning, effective 7 September. She succeeds Ana Rita Bessa and will lead the further development of the Portuguese educational publishing group. Correia de Barros brings experience in strategy, management and operations across several sectors.
Correia de Barros holds a degree in Applied Mathematics for Economics and Management from ISEG in Portugal. She began her career in banking before joining McKinsey & Company, where she focused on strategy and operational efficiency. She subsequently served on the Executive Committee of healthcare organisation José de Mello Saúde and was COO of the CUF hospitals in the Lisbon region.
In 2017, Correia de Barros joined Pestana Hotel Group, where she served as a member of the Executive Committee with responsibility for international operations. For the past six years, she has been Country Manager of Diaverum in Portugal, leading an organisation with 28 haemodialysis clinics across the country.
