Probo, a supplier of print products for resellers, has made its product range more sustainable with the help of a new invention. After the NPM participation introduced a biodegradable flag earlier this year, Probo now also offers circular printed textiles that are stretched tightly in a frame.
Probo developed the circular textiles in collaboration with the German textile manufacturer Georg Otto Friedrich. The Blackback Renew8 is the first textile of its kind to be fully recyclable and consists of 30 percent recycled cutting waste and used textiles.
The material is made of 100 percent polyester and does not contain a PU coating, making it suitable for chemical recycling. The polyester is broken down into its original building blocks, cleaned, and reprocessed into yarn. The recycled yarn is then used to produce new textiles, keeping the material within the printing chain.
To enable the recycling of used textiles into new textiles, Probo charges a recycling fee so that it can return the used textiles for processing. According to Probo, the Blackback Renew8 is a first step toward a fully circular printing chain. In addition to biodegradable flags and circular textiles, Probo also offers 100% recycled sheet material under the product name Sign Again. This application is popular for signage on carriers or walls at exhibitions and festivals.
