NPM-participation Het Gastenhuis recently added its thirty-first branch. A new location of the small-scale residential care formula for people with dementia was opened in Bergeijk this week. The location has twenty apartments, two of which for couples, and is situated in the village center of Het Loo, in a quiet and green neighborhood.

The official opening took place on October 31st, in the presence of alderman Mathijs Kuijken (housing) and alderwoman Lindy Wijnen (healthcare and wellbeing), alongside Het Gastenhuis founder Annemieke Bambach. “Het Gastenhuis is an excellent addition to the healthcare facilities in Bergeijk,“ said alderwoman Wijnen. “They fulfill a meaningful role in connecting people within an inclusive society, allowing people with dementia to remain an active part of the community.”

“Housing and healthcare complement each other here in a perfect way and in a beautiful place,” her colleague Kuijken added. On the opening day, a ‘constant flow of interested and curious citizens and potential future residents’ came to take a look, according to the Eindhovens Dagblad.

Het Gastenhuis offers a living environment with round-the-clock care, where residents are free to determine their own daily routines. The apartments can be furnished to their liking, and there are several living rooms with open kitchens. Fresh meals are prepared there daily, often together with residents. The principle is an open, familiar living environment that feels like home as much as possible. Later this year, Het Gastenhuis will be opening an additional branch in Voorschoten.
