Agro Care was awarded the Fairtrade certificate for its cultivation locations in Tunisia and Morocco. Alderman Peter Valstar of the municipality of Westland presented the certificate to CEO Kees van Veen. Thanks to this recognition, Westland will remain an official Fairtrade Municipality for the next two years. For Agro Care, the recognition confirms the values that the company has upheld for years: fair trade, sustainable production and social commitment.

The certification applies to Desert Joy in El Hamma (Tunisia) and Quality Tomato in Agadir (Morocco), where Agro Care has been active since 2012. Both locations have grown into important employers in regions with limited employment opportunities. The companies offer fair salaries, on-site medical care, dental check-ups and childcare to their mostly local employees. Thanks to these facilities, dozens of families can count on a stable income and safe working conditions.

With the introduction of Fairtrade snack tomatoes, Agro Care is also bringing its commitment to fair trade to the supermarket. Consumers are thus directly contributing to better living conditions in the regions where the tomatoes are grown. CEO Kees van Veen: “We are more than a producer of healthy food. Every day, we are working toward to a future in which care, respect and progress come together. This certificate confirms that we are on the right track.”
