With the introduction of a new assessment guideline (beoordelingsrichtlijn, BRL), Kiwa is raising the calculation and assessment of the Environmental Performance of Buildings (Milieuprestatie Gebouwen, MPG) to the level of the Dutch Building Decree (Bouwbesluit). This sustainability indicator reveals the environmental impact of the materials used in a building. Kiwa, which is an NPM Capital portfolio company, will introduce the BRL at the ‘Working successfully with MPG’ symposium on Thursday, 13 December 2018.

The MPG is required with each application for an environmental permit and as such plays a key role in the transition to a sustainable and circular construction culture. Through the new BRL, KIWA is embedding the processes needed to calculate and assess the indicator. This will be discussed in greater depth at the symposium designed for consultancies and engineers. The speakers will include the Vereniging Bouw- en Woningtoezicht (Dutch Construction and Residential Supervision Association), the Dutch Ministry of Interior Affairs, SBK (Foundation for Building Quality) and W/E adviseurs. They will explore this topic from the viewpoint of their own professional field. The symposium will be held at the Kontakt der Kontinenten Conference Centre in Soesterberg, the Netherlands.
