NPM Capital and management buy-out ABIRD 

NPM Capital and the management have acquired all the shares in the Rotterdam-based company ABIRD Holding BV from the Swedish industrial services provider Atlas Copco Group. ABIRD is the rental specialist in the field of industrial equipment. The company has 30 employees that serve companies in the industry & manufacturing, industrial contracting, offshore and energy sectors from multiple locations in the Benelux.  

ABIRD’s core activities are renting industrial equipment in the field of temporary electricity and lighting for heavier industry, including offshore, shipping, shipbuilding and repair, and leasing welding equipment and related products for welding contractors, equipment builders and heavy construction companies.

CEO and buy-out manager Wichard Oorschot explains the rationale of the buy-out: ‘ABIRD can now operate on a non-captive basis. This will make the company more flexible and better able to address customers’ needs with a wider range of products and services. This will enable us to contribute optimally to maximising their productivity.’

Wichard Oorschot is the grandson of ABIRD’s founder. ABIRD was a family-owned company until it was acquired by Atlas Copco in 1999. Oorschot has stayed on with the company since its acquisition. This transaction means that the company will once again be returned to the founding family. Oorschot: ‘The company will now enter a new strategic phase with NPM Capital.
